Alpha & Omega

ALPHA: the first; the beginning...having the highest rank in dominance of a hierarchy... being the most prominent, or talented.

OMEGA: the last; the end.

ALPHA & OMEGA:  the beginning and the end; basic and essential elements; the basic reason or meaning; most important part; a phrase to signify God's eternity - God remains from the beginning to the end of time

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:8

"He said to me: 'It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.  Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.  But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.'" Revelation 21:6-8

“Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.  I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End." Revelation 22:12-13

As we take a deeper look at the definitions of Alpha & Omega it is clear that the words He uses to describe Himself mean more than just God's eternity and a reference to time... as we look at each word; and as we look at it as a phrase... what is God telling us about Himself?

God is the first - is He the first in your life?  Is He the most prominent aspect of your life?  Is He alone the most important?  Do you begin your day thinking of God and setting your mind on Him?  Is He your Alpha?  God is the last - when you lie down to sleep do you think of Him?  When you are reflecting on your day have you been by His side all day?  Have you brought Him glory?  Are the basic principles of your life set firm in Him?  Is He alone the most important part of your life?  Is He your Omega?

God is indeed eternal, the beginning and the end...but on a personal level, is He YOUR Alpha & YOUR Omega?
